Dead Island 2: Release Date Postponed to 2016
Deep Silver recently announced that its zombie themed game Dead Island will be released in 2016 rather than in 2015 as it was stated before. Developer of the game explains that this decision was made in order to make Dead Island 2 a game that fulfills its full potential.
Such news was announced by Deep Silver studio on their Twitter page: “We have always set ourselves a big goal for Dead Island 2: to create the sequel that takes Dead Island to the next level. A game that takes what our fans tell us they love about Dead Island–multiple different characters to play with, co-op, and turning a paradise setting into a zombie slaughter melee–and a game that adds a ton more content and combat options on top of that.”
Dead Island developer also commented on how hard they tried to make it on time: “And we wanted to have all of that done for release in spring 2015. We have been looking at the game long and hard, and we have decided we didn’t reach that goal we set out to achieve quite yet. This is why we have decided to delay Dead Island 2 to 2016.”
To be honest, such news are quite disappointing for the most of the game fans that waited for Dead Island 2 to be released in spring, 2015. However, the company assures that it is worth waiting as the game will be made better in a result: “Right now we are focusing purely on development, and we will have more info to share at a later stage. We know that our fans will be disappointed by this news, but by giving Dead Island 2 more time we are confident that everyone will get a better game to play as a result.”
Dead Island 2 is currently being made by studio Yager which is well-known for one of their games – Spec Ops: The Line. Previous versions of Dead Island (Original Dead Island (2011) and Dead Island Riptide (2013)) were developed by another company – Polish studio Techland. Techland released another zombie themed game Dying Light this January with a huge success. In its first 45 days, the game was sold in more than 3.2 million copies leaving Dead Island sales behind.
Dead Island 2 game is not the only Dead Island project that Deep Silver is working on. They are also working on the MOBA Dead Island Epidemic and a Dead Island movie.
Dead Island 2 was first officially announced during Sony’s E3 press event. The upcoming game is expected to be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Dead Island 2 beta version is known to be first held on PS4.
Deep Silver states that Dead Island will have various role-playing game specifics, melee battles and completely new handcrafted guns. In Dead Island 2 game players will be able to travel to such places as Venice Beach and Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
There will also be a multiplayer version of Dead Island. As Deep Silver states, in this version you will be able to cooperate with up to 8 players. This is a part of the company’s new generation multiplayer experience project.
It is also notable that Dead Island 2 is not the only game that was postponed from 2015 to 2016. The list of such games includes: Homefront: The Revolution, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Legend of Zelda Wii U.
