Dead Island Movie: in Development Again
Deep Silver is trying hard to make Dead Island into a movie. After it failed for the first time, the company finally found another partner – Occupant Entertainment. The partnership package includes production and financing of the movie, based on a paradise island full of zombies.
Deep Silver owner Koch Media CEO Dr. Klemens Kundratitz said that the concept of Dead Island 2 can easily be brought outside the game: “The Dead Island universe offers a rich and unique setting that can expand beyond the pure gaming experience. We are very much looking forward to seeing Dead Island open up to new audiences and showing off the fun everybody at Deep Silver has with this brand.”
You might think that maybe you heard something similar before. That is because Deep Silver made a quite analogous project with Lionsgate in 2011. However, the project with Lionsgate failed. As soon as the right came back to Deep Silver, they took this project to Occupant Entertainment as they were one of the applicants.
Once Lionsgate stated that their interest in Dead Island began when their CGI trailer gained millions of viewers on YouTube. It also won a Golden Lion award (advertisement award) at Cannes during an International Festival of Creativity.
Deep Silver is working on a few projects at one time. First of all, they are working on Dead Island 2 that will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Moreover, company is working on the MOBA Dead Island: Epidemic and the stealth-based Escape Dead Island for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
